This week Caleb and Will discuss episode two of Stephen King’s 11.22.63, “The Kill Floor.” The guys jump off to a slow start, mostly due to the fact that Caleb had just woken up from a nap a mere ten minutes before recording. But! Bear with us, the episode picks up steam as we go along.

This episode centers on James Franco’s Jake Epping attempting to stop the brutal murder of Janitor Harry’s family. Along the way, we meet the Prices, grab a drink with Bartender Bill, tour a slaughterhouse with Frank and the boys, visit Ms. Dunning, watch Jake get the shit kicked out of him, buy a gun, sell Bartender Bill on the future, and finally murder a man who was in the process of murdering his own family. What a whirlwind. The Prices turn out to be pretty conservative folk who understand the value of religion and human life.

The tension created by this show in even its most exposition-heavy scenes is fascinating. The bar scene with Frank and Jake is a perfect example. If you don’t think that scene was tense, then wait for the slaughterhouse scene. These guys put the laughter in slaughterhouse. Just kidding, this scene is of equally tensing buttholes (four clinched buttholes out of five – it’s a new rating scale, go with it). The only thing missing from the scene with Jake and Ms. Dunning was Harry’s Buffalo Bill costume – I mean Buffalo Bob. James Franco gets beat up a lot – and rightfully so. Also, it’s incredibly easy to buy a gun in the 1960s!

As we close the episode, we discuss the pros and cons of time traveling for personal gain. So, with that said – if you found a portal to January 1st, 2000, what would you do? Would you stop 9/11? Would you join the Army? To learn the answers to these questions and more, stop reading this and listen to the episode!

It’s another 8.5 for both Caleb and Will for this episode, which is turning out to be a damn solid show with some gripping scenes and fantastic acting. If you haven’t done so, check out 11-22-63 on Hulu, today!
